Momentum High School, a new Spring ISD school of choice, will offer a path to graduation for students seeking an alternative to the traditional middle school or high school experience.
With smaller classes, personalized learning plans, accelerated credit recovery and career training opportunities, Momentum will provide paths to graduation for students who may have become disconnected or disengaged in their traditional school environment, or those who are looking to accelerate their learning.
Through a combination of flexible schedules and blended instruction, accepted students will be able to leverage the school’s unique structure and resources to gain greater momentum in their own path toward earning their diploma, as well as valuable industry certifications and career training opportunities.
The Evolution of Momentum High School
Building on the accomplishments of Spring ISD’s Achieving Success Alternative Program (ASAP) – a dropout recovery initiative launched in 2015 – and the district’s existing Virtual Academy, Momentum High School adds a blended-learning, full-day, in-person program where accepted students can fast-track their learning, completing as much as a year’s worth of credits in a single semester. The school serves students from ages 16 to 26.
ASAP Provides Greater Flexibility for Non-Traditional Students
The partial-day ASAP program offers scheduling flexibility through the state’s Optional Flexible School Day program. Scheduling options include morning, afternoon, or evening classes to accommodate students with additional work or family responsibilities outside of school. Even students who may have previously dropped out of school due to work or family necessity have been able to return and successfully earn their high school diploma through ASAP.
Virtual Learning Program Benefits Students Throughout Spring ISD
The staff and resources of Momentum High School will also be available to all Spring ISD high school students through the district’s Virtual Learning Program. As part of the Texas Virtual School Network, the program provides opportunities for students across the district to recover credits as needed or to accelerate their path toward graduation by completing virtual coursework right from their home campus.
